Meet River, a beautiful female Husky mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. River is a wonderful girl who is equal parts playful, affectionate, and goofy.

River absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with canine companions to play and cuddle with. She also enjoys the company of cats, although she hasn't quite figured out why they don't always appreciate her enthusiasm and attempts to be friends!

This sweet girl loves chasing toys and entertaining herself with playtime. She is currently learning her leash manners and is making great progress every day. River is both kennel trained and potty trained in her foster home, but like any dog, she will need a little patience and time to adjust to a new home, routine, and family.

River's favorite place to be is with her people. She has a hilarious habit of forgetting her size and often thinks she's a lap dog. One of her favorite things to do is perch herself on her foster's shoulder while happily chewing on a toy.

Like many Huskies, River likes to have conversations with her people and isn't shy about sharing her opinions. She'll happily "talk" to you throughout the day with her adorable Husky noises and expressive personality. She can also be a little vocal when first left alone, but she settles down quickly once she realizes everything is okay.

River takes her job of looking after her family seriously. If she thinks she needs to protect you from something, she'll let you know with a bark. With continued guidance and reassurance, she's learning when she can relax and leave the protecting to her humans.

She has been raised in a busy foster home with children, a small dog, and several cats, and she does very well in that environment. River is also extremely food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding.
